On Monday, January 16th, the United Republican Club of Howell welcomed several new members and swore in the 2012 Officers and a Trustee. Sworn in by Monmouth County Sheriff Shaun Golden: were Rob Antonelli, President; Liz Crombe, Vice President; Carol Chirico, Recording Secretary; Beth Heine, Treasurer; Bette Ann Van Noy, Corresponding Secretary; and Jim Moretti, Sergeant-at-Arms. Also, the previous Township Mayor, Joe DiBella, was sworn in as Trustee, replacing long time member, Warren Curry, who recently passed away.
The URC is proud of its accomplishments for 2011. It was active in restoring the Monmouth County Freeholders to an all Republican Board, the re-election of Rose Marie Peters as County Surrogate and the continued support for our local representatives. The Club is preparing for an active and rewarding election year in 2012.
On a local level, the URC aided a Howell family whose home burned down with donations from the members and by hosting a Pasta fundraising dinner. We also collected supplies for the Howell food pantry. Several members are active in the canning process whereby money is collected for our local First Aid Squad. We have just donated many warm, gently-used coats to the Howell PAL.
